still life - oil painting. 970625

This is my first time to teach oil painting. I was so excited.
So it's an exemplary teaching of oil painting that I worked for students in the class today.
Thank God for being with me.
Nothing much, just sharing my painting with you :)

ow...and I hate fleas :(

I'm learning to draw and paint, but it's slow. I don't have any teachers like you do, especially a great one like the one teaching you. I just watch painting DVDs sometimes and learn from books. I started getting into art too late in life, I think. I'm almost 40.

The few things I've done, and some of it is awful, but I'm getting better, can be found here:

I'm not at all near how good you are, but at least you have a blog where I can see how you're learning and see your work. I put you blog on my favorites so I can keep an eye on it. :)

Google translator seemed to work fine, sort of. At least I think I got the point of what was being said.

Hey David,
thanks for the sharing!!I put your blog on my list also!
I think that you were humble saying that. You are too cool for learning painting by yourself. You must be very patient with facing the dilemma of understanding the concepts of sketch or finding the techniques of painting that you think that is right for work. I don't know..but you are good for that. Not too late, just keep it up!

So you watched Yim's DVD for learning painting? Also Morgan Weistling's?

I met Yim and learned painting from him for more one year and a half. He is really great at art and is a humble master.. treating people well. sometimes he's like my father,so kind to me. .I was thankful of that:))
If you also know about Yim's painting,I gotta tell you a news! Just let me know if you know him!

Hi Hope!
Thank you for being nice. I did watch Morgan Weistling's DVD on painting, have you? I didn't know anything about painting until I watched that. I seriously didn't know a thing, and I don't know any other artists. I didn't even know how to get paint off a brush to mix other colors, that's how ignorant I was! haha... While watching him paint, I kept seeing him dip his brush into that walnut oil, but at the time I didn't know what he was doing. I learned a lot since watching that. But I have also watched Yim paint, the one called "The Pianist." It was done very fast, and he doesn't talk at all, but I still learned a lot. I love his paintings. That's how I found your blog - I was looking for information about him, and I found your site and was very impressed by your blog. I love your spirituality, too. I'm a Christian, though it's always hard to say that, since I feel my faith is very weak.

What is this news? You have me very curious now! :)

hey,thanks!

I heard you! Before I had the same situation and confusion about painting techniques and I wondered how to paint a good painting something like that. But I have to say that I have still kept looking for it so for and it all depends on God's leading. Though I met a great teacher,I know that all understandings of painting that I got and I learned beacuse of God's giving. Sometimes it's hard to explain the experience by words. ;)

I have seen Morgan Weistling's book and his web. He is also my favorite nowadays artist. I like his thoughts of painting that the part of creations about Jesus. Some of them moves me.

Ha..yeah..I think you might be interested in this news..I don't know..:) Next year in March Yim will have an exemplary teaching of oil painting in your state "Arizona" for about 5 days at somewhere school. We haven't sure the total information yet. But if you want to see and take the class, you may take it! If it would be,you may get more understandings from that. How do you think?!

That's exciting, but also heartbreaking in some ways. There's no way I could afford those workshop prices. At least he has made DVDs for studying. Hope you're having a good day! :)
